Zoo Buddies

Yesterday Mitch and I took the day off work and went to the zoo. It was a perfect day to go - it was warm, sunny, and the zoo wasn't crowded at all. We had a blast and got to see things most people will never see. For example, we saw a Rhino get sick (and yes, it IS as gross as it sounds). We also got to see a white alligator from New Orleans. According to Hogle Zoo's site: "This alligator isn’t albino; he’s leucistic, and purely white in color with dazzling blue eyes. Eastern mythology says these creatures are symbols of extremely good luck. Legend has it that anyone gazing into the blue eyes of the rare white alligator will be blessed with good luck for the coming year, and prosperity will surely follow. There are only TEN of these white gators in the entire world!" They can't live in the wild, because their skin burns in the sun and they can't hide in their natural environment. It was cool to see something so rare! The zoo also had a new baby giraffe and some baby monkeys that were so cute! It was such a great day! I wish every Tuesday could be so fun!
